Not sure if you have a disability?
Temporary medical conditions
Do you have a temporary medical condition, such as a broken arm or leg, a virus, or a complicated pregnancy? Generally, medical conditions such as these that last less than six months are not considered to be a disability. However, Disability Services may be able to help you identify campus or community resources that can assist you. Contact Disability Services, (612) 626-1333 (V/TTY), for more information.
Screening for learning disabilities or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder
Disability Services provides a screening to students who suspect they may have a learning disability or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder. To participate in the screening you will be asked to complete a learning skills inventory and return it to the DS office. You will then be contacted to set up an appointment to meet with a disability specialist to review the results and consider whether or not you want to proceed with a formal assessment. Please note: Disability Services can provide advice and resources related to an assessment, however the student will be responsible for costs associated with that process.
For more information, contact Disability Services at 612-626-1333 or by email at ds@umn.edu and ask to speak with the walk-in specialist.
