A New Model of Disability
At Disability Services, we believe students with disabilities add to the rich diversity on our campus.
Of course, society hasn't always viewed people with disabilities in such a positive light. Historically, people with disabilities were viewed as being deficient and in need of "fixing". But the disability rights movement and the development of disability studies has challenged these outdated models and redefined what it means to be disabled.
We invite you to browse the links below to learn more about challenging traditional models of disability and how you can best serve your students with disabilities. You are always welcome to contact Disability Services if you need additional information.
